Let Your Voice Be Heard

There is a new poll about the most pressing issue in our country right now if you scroll down the sidebar. It has annoying arrows that I cannot get rid of, but still, this non-scientific poll should give our nation the answer it is so desperately seeking. There is a certain speech pathologist I know who hasn't been able to sleep for days over this. Well, I assume she hasn't been able to. If she has been sleeping, she clearly does not care about our country.

Well, evidently I am not a concerned citizen because it took me about a minute to figure out who Jamie Lynn is!! Hmmm . . . I am not for sure how to vote. Can I vote twice? I do think teens will be teens - but her parents track record speaks for itself. So, I guess I blame the parents more than the child.

Actually I think the more serious issue is that Johnny did not receive a SAG nomination - there will be blood!!

Have you seen the movie? There was plenty of blood. But seriously, people, Sweeney Todd is bloody brilliant!

So, why didn't he get nominated? Because he won the SAG for Pirates?!? Why?

I saw Charlie Wilson's War over the weekend. I enjoyed it but then again I love practically anything that Aaron Sorkin is involved with - I miss the West Wing. PSH is amazing in it!

With the nomination process, I rarely get myself emotionally invested in who gets nominated or even who wins. There are so many factors involved. Also, who was nominated that you cut. Johnny Depp is good as Sweeney Todd. Is it his best performance ever? Probably not. Is it one of the five best of the year? Probably not. I have not seen any of the nominated actors in those roles. Therefore, I really don't have an opinion on it. However, I will say that as much as I love Sweeney Todd (both on stage and screen), I do think there are others who could have played the part as well if not better than Depp. He inhabits the character, but his singing is very thin. That said, it still gets my vote for the best movie of the year so far.

Always blame the parents.

BTW, is anyone concerned about the writers' strike in conjunction with the award ceremonies??? This is very serious people. Well, not as serious as a fashion designer strike just before the awards (perish the thought!) but still serious.
